It’s been quite the warm summer! So it’s only fitting we look at the latest offering from Contigo. The Cortland is an update from the previously reviewed Grace. The moment you open the package, you’ll already see a lot of improvements in this water bottle. The top features nice rubber accents and extra measures to stop spilling while on the go. The ring has been changed to a grappling hook! No more looking for twine or whatever is handy to carry this bottle on hot days. The intense plastic smell that plagued the Grace is also gone, making it a much nicer product.
The idea is still the same, press the big blue button, and water will pour out.
The redesigned mouth piece is much less likely to cause spillage and a flip-up hood will keep it all clean as well! A little lock-switch is another well-thought out part that decreases the likelihood of flooding your bag with water. A much welcomed addition.
The only thing I don’t like is that if you hold the bottle wrong and press the big button, water will escape all around that same button.
The bottle-part comes in several colours and is made from a study plastic that will resist most impacts. It will however scratch a bit, but then again, it’s a bottle. Filling to 750 ml / 24oz, the Grace holds three cups of water, so emptying this bottle twice a day should keep you hydrated through the day. I only wish for a smaller version that holds 500ml so it would fit in smaller bags. There is a larger version though, holding over 36, which is just a tad over a liter. The Contigo Cortland retails at €19,99.
